Some families pay job by job. Others just want payday to arrive on time, every time. EarnIt 2.1 does both β€” and adds jobs any kid can claim, plus a chore chart that finally puts the whole week on one screen.

πŸ’Έ Allowance mode β€” payday, handled

Not every family wants to put a price on every chore. So EarnIt can now pay a set amount on a schedule instead: choose weekly, every two weeks, monthly, or the 1st and 15th, set the amount, and payday takes care of itself. Your child gets a notification when it lands, and the money splits into their savings, spending and giving categories exactly like any other earning.

Paydays run on your family's timezone, not a server's β€” so "every Saturday" means Saturday where you actually live, not whenever a datacenter rolls over midnight.

Switching doesn't mean giving up on chores. Job lists still work, kids still mark jobs done, and you still approve them β€” jobs just aren't what triggers the money anymore. Allowance mode is a Premium feature, and it's money-only: families running on points keep rewarding job by job.

πŸ† Jobs that are up for grabs

Some jobs don't belong to anyone in particular β€” the car needs washing, and you don't much care which kid does it. Post one as up for grabs and it goes out to everyone: the first child to claim it owns it. They can claim it, mark it done, or give it up if they change their mind, and you approve it like any other job.

These pay out in both reward models β€” including allowance mode, so there's always a way for a motivated kid to earn something extra on top of their regular payday. (Premium)

πŸ“… The chore chart

One screen, one week, everybody: jobs down the side, days across the top, and a child's avatar in the square when their job is done and approved. It's the paper chart on the fridge, except it fills itself in. Flip back through earlier weeks to see how the month actually went β€” and yes, the days follow your family's timezone too. (Premium)

πŸ“‹ Today, at a glance

The dashboard used to tell you a child had "2 jobs left." Now it tells you which two. And everywhere job lists appear, today's lists come first while keeping the order you arranged them in β€” so the list you need is at the top without you re-sorting anything.

πŸ”§ Fixes & polish

  • Dark mode: fixed unreadable premium bullets, a stubbornly white celebration card, the update banner, and all six date pickers.
  • Screen readers: every tappable control now announces itself as a button β€” 138 of them.
  • Fresher numbers: pull-to-refresh works on Payments again, and balances and goals update immediately after payouts and approvals.
  • Staying signed in on iPhone: fixed sessions expiring while the app sat in the background.
  • Fewer duplicate confirmation emails when creating an account.
  • Translations: the jobs-left counter (with proper plurals), pop-up messages and a dozen leftover English strings are now translated in all five languages.

Update now

Version 2.1 is rolling out on the App Store and Google Play. Nothing changes for your family until you choose it β€” every family stays on per-job rewards unless you switch to allowance in Settings.

"Allowance or pay-per-job isn't a philosophy question β€” it's a phase. Kids grow out of one and into the other. 2.1 lets you switch when your family changes, without losing anything you've built."
