Chore lists have always been built for routines — every day, every Tuesday, every month. But a lot of family work isn't a routine. The garage needs doing before Grandma visits. The party leaves a kitchen. Nobody's name is on any of it. EarnIt 2.5 is about that kind of work: lists that happen once, and jobs any kid can grab.

📆 One Time lists

Pick One Time when you add a list and give it a Complete By date. It behaves like any other list until that date passes, then it steps aside on its own — off the Chore Lists page, out of your active-list count, into the archive. No cleanup, no stale list sitting there in December that said "Halloween."

One Time is now the default when you add a list, because it turns out most lists people create are a one-off before they're a routine.

👥 Up for Grabs boards

Assign a One Time list to Anyone instead of a kid and it becomes a board: every kid sees it, and every job on it is first come, first served. The first kid to submit a job takes it — the others watch it go, with the winner's face on it. If you reject that submission, the job reopens for everyone, not just the kid who tried.

Kids get a notification the moment a board goes up, and a countdown while it's live — "2 days left", then "Due today — first come, first served!" It turns the leftover jobs nobody volunteers for into something closer to a race. (Premium.)

📄 Duplicate, and repost

Any list can be duplicated — to another kid, to several kids at once, or back onto the board. Weekly lists let you pick a different day for the copy; One Time lists get their own new Complete By date, and if you never renamed the list, the title follows the date along with it.

That makes the archive more than a record. Last Saturday's board worked? Open Archived Lists, hit Duplicate, pick this Saturday, done.

🗂️ An archive that answers "did that ever get done?"

Every expired One Time list keeps its result: who it was for, when it was due, how much of it got finished, and what it paid out — "4/6 done · $9.00 paid". It's the first place in EarnIt where you can look backwards at a piece of work as a whole rather than as a line in a ledger.

🔃 Everything in the same order

Lists now sort by what's due soonest — today's work first, then tomorrow's, with One Time lists slotting in by their deadline. The same order everywhere: your Chore Lists page, Log Chore, and your kid's My Chores. Whatever your kid is looking at, you're looking at the same thing.

🔧 Fixes & polish

  • Forms say what they need: Save and Create stay dimmed until the form is actually complete, instead of letting you tap and then explaining what's missing.
  • Approvals name their list: a pending job now reads "Garage Day › Vacuum" rather than leaving you to guess where it came from.
  • Changes appear immediately: creating, duplicating, editing or deleting a list updates the screen right away instead of waiting for the next refresh.
  • Dates behave: due dates no longer drift by a day depending on your timezone.

Version 2.5 is rolling out on the App Store and Google Play, and it's live now on the web app. One Time lists work on every plan; boards need Premium.
